CONTACT Software at the prostep ivip Symposium 2024


At the international conference, CONTACT Software will demonstrate how digital twins, simulation, and Artificial Intelligence accelerate the industry‘s digital transformation.


The prostep ivip Symposium 2024 in Munich will be attended by over 650 experts and managers from America, Asia, and Europe. The two-day April 10-11 conference features the motto "Digital Engineering - Ready for seamless Collaboration". CONTACT Software will address this topic and present how the digital twin enables faster, easier, and more efficient collaboration within companies as well as with suppliers and customers.

The CONTACT Elements platform serves as the basis for transparent, largely automated end-to-end processes in development, manufacturing, and service. Depending on the use case, it can flexibly link data from various IT/OT systems, perform targeted data analytics, and consider sustainability and cost aspects.

At the joint booth 21/22 of CONTACT Software and its subsidiary CAIQ visitors can experience live many of the more than 50 specialist applications for the entire product life cycle. Also on show will be a race car from the Formula Student Electric team Bremergy, which has been converted into a driving simulator. Its digital twin will demonstrate how the integration of PLM, IoT, and MES increases efficiency and speed in development processes and on the shop floor.

CONTACT's presentations on current research findings also address the benefits of digital twins and introduce newly developed Elements applications. These include solutions for the cross-manufacturer exchange of product data via the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and the optimized utilization of wind energy for sustainable power generation.

Sven Forte from CONTACT Research and Markus Weber from GMN report on their experiences with the AAS implementation. The industry partner GMN, who specializes in motor spindle technology, has validated the trustworthy data transfer via the AAS internally and with customers in two use cases (certified commissioning & smart maintenance). The reference architecture was developed in the ESCOM1 project based on Gaia-X infrastructure for data exchange from component manufacturers to production plant operators.

Dr. Nicole Göckel from CONTACT and Dr. Andreas Haselsteiner from the University of Bremen present an IoT solution developed within the Wind IO project. It monitors the operation of a real wind turbine via its digital twin, simplifies maintenance, and uses AI models to predict suitable maintenance windows and expected yields. These digital applications can help to optimize the efficiency of such plants, ensure a stable power grid, and increase the share of renewable energies.
