CONTACT helps ContiTech unify its IT landscape with CIM Database Cloud
CONTACT Software supports the Continental business division in standardizing the IT landscapes of its business units. As part of the “OnePDM” project, ContiTech relies on CIM Database Cloud Enterprise, which combines the advantages of the cloud with extensive configurability.
As part of its ongoing transformation, ContiTech harmonizes its processes in many areas and moves from a decentralized structure shaped by various acquisitions to a unified one. This also encompasses implementing a new IT strategy with a comprehensive IT landscape and harmonized processes. The “OnePDM” initiative therefore marks a milestone: for the first time, ContiTech is rolling out a uniform system across all business areas and locations with CIM Database Cloud Enterprise from CONTACT Software.
With the new PLM system, ContiTech creates a single source of truth for professional product data management that seamlessly integrates data from SAP and CAD systems. Simulation data can also be managed efficiently. Advanced functions accelerate product development and contribute to process standardization. Other decisive arguments in favor of CIM Database Cloud were its high configurability, intuitive user interface, and cloud-native architecture.

The PaaS (Platform as a Service) solution reduces IT efforts and ensures high data security. At the same time, it allows ContiTech to precisely map the specific requirements of individual business areas and segments, such as those relating to workflows and templates. To maintain long-term updateability, ContiTech implements the system close to the standard: process adjustments take priority over software customization. In gap workshops, ContiTech and CONTACT determine together how existing processes can be optimized for this purpose.
“This is one of the most important projects for ContiTech,” says Steffen Cierpka, Head of Technology Systems & Data Management at ContiTech. “With CIM Database Cloud, we are future-proofing our company. Thanks to the modular architecture, we will also be able to flexibly expand the platform in the future.” Possible additions include enhancements in the direction of AI, a ticket system, or mobile applications.
