Thomas Magnete GmbH is a leading manufacturer of electromagnetic actuators for the automotive industry, mobile hydraulics and other technology-intensive areas such as medical technology. Thomas products include dosing pumps, proportional valves and proportional solenoids in particular. The company's core competence is the development of new actuators and system solutions taking into account the most complex customer requirements. Thomas currently employs over 850 people. In 2018, sales amounted to 178 million euros.  


Fundamental renewal of CAD and product data management with the aim of continuously documenting product development; integration of the heterogeneous CAD environment via workspaces; automatic transfer of master data to the ERP system via web services; construction of a project-related document management system with role-specific access rights; mapping of a uniform change process with the Engineering Change Management module of the PLM system.


Reduction of the effort for documenting rule-compliance by complete management of all development and change-relevant documents in the respective version and revision levels; significantly faster search for information; improvement of transparency over the entire product lifecycle by creating projects for each terminal device and each product variant; high investment security through open and scalable PLM software.


Analysis of weaknesses in the documentation of products and processes by simulating a product recall; replacement of an existing team data management system with CIM database; mapping the different requirements and quality regulations in the automotive industry, industrial hydraulics and other areas of application in the PLM system; manual CAD migration in order to clean up and restructure the data.
In the hypothetical case of a callback, CIM Database allows us to prove our rule-compliance quickly and easily.
