Diehl Advanced Mobility accelerates time to market with CIM Database PLM

The specialist for cell contact systems implements highly efficient engineering processes to strengthen its position in international competition.

Cell contact systems connect individual battery cells into modules and direct electric power to where it is needed – for example, to an electric motor. This makes them essential for the performance and range of electric vehicles. Diehl Advanced Mobility (DAM) is one of the leading manufacturers in this field. The company is now implementing CIM Database PLM from CONTACT Software to address the high innovation and cost pressures in the e-mobility sector and further strengthen its competitive position.

With CIM Database, DAM aims to optimize its engineering processes to bring innovations to market faster and more cost-effectively. The new PLM system will also help manage the product complexity resulting from the wide range of customer-specific solutions. In the selection process, CIM Database stood out in particular for its modular architecture, easy scalability, intuitive user interface, and extensive configuration options.

The PLM system will establish a single source of truth for documents and product data at DAM, seamlessly integrating information from CATIA, Solidworks, and SAP via interfaces. Users can keep track of their projects through the integrated project management and leverage multidisciplinary approval workflows to control processes across departments.

“CIM Database PLM allows us to optimally connect our employees’ expertise and inspire our customers even faster with the technologies of tomorrow,” says the responsible project manager PDM/PLM at Diehl Advanced Mobility. After less than twelve months, the implementation project is now nearing completion. DAM also wants to proactively build up in-house configuration expertise to flexibly respond to new requirements.

Diehl Advanced Mobility is part of Diehl Metall, a division of the globally operating Diehl Group. In 2024, the group generated revenue of 4.7 billion euros with around 18,700 employees.
