Strama-MPS relies on CIM Database PLM for global growth
The company is replacing its PRO.FILE solution with CIM Database PLM from CONTACT Software to establish end-to-end digital product development and future-proof its position in global competition.
Strama-MPS develops equipment, special-purpose machinery, and turnkey solutions for the production, assembly, and testing of complex technical products. Its customers include leading global technology companies from industries such as automotive, electrical engineering, and petroleum. To increase efficiency in product development and strengthen its position for long-term success in global competition, Strama-MPS is now replacing its PRO.FILE solution with CIM Database PLM from CONTACT Software.
Seeking a high-performance, scalable alternative to the existing system, Strama-MPS chose CONTACT’s PLM solution as the ideal fit. “CIM Database is the only platform that fully convinced us – for a special-purpose machinery manufacturer, it combines all project, process, and product data in one system. It also offers powerful options for production and service management,” says Roland Billmeier, Head of Standard & Development at STRAMAGROUP. CIM Database also came out ahead in a consideration of the total cost of ownership (TCO).

The new PLM system ensures end-to-end continuity throughout the entire product lifecycle. Documents, product and material data are centrally managed, while SAP and EPLAN data are integrated via interfaces. This not only accelerates product development at Strama-MPS but also simplifies compliance with regulatory requirements.
This single source of truth approach is also reflected in the integrated project management, which links all product and process data. Moreover, employees benefit from efficient variant and requirements management, can easily synchronize bills of materials, calculate costs and resources, and make informed risk assessments.
Once implemented, up to 1,000 employees at Strama-MPS and affiliated companies across various continents will work with CIM Database. The PLM solution can be expanded in a modular fashion to meet future requirements, such as those related to new service-based business models.
For over 75 years, Strama-MPS has been providing its customers with special-purpose machinery and turnkey solutions from a single source. The company from Straubing, Germany, operates at ten locations across three continents. STRAMAGROUP – which includes Strama-MPS as well as companies such as AuE Kassel, Multinorm, and F & K DELVOTEC – employs over 1,800 people worldwide and generated a revenue of 300 million euros in 2024.
