Baumann Automation accelerates development with CIM Database PLM

Baumann Automation is modernizing its IT infrastructure for the future by replacing its legacy system with CONTACT Software’s CIM Database.

Baumann Automation aims to optimize manufacturing with flexible, digital automation solutions delivered from a single source. At the same time, the company faces challenges such as global competition and new regulatory requirements. In addition, data silos have been slowing down development and innovation processes. The legacy system was no longer able to meet these growing demands due to limited scalability and traceability.

To overcome these hurdles and secure its long-term competitiveness, Baumann chose CIM Database PLM from CONTACT Software. Key factors in the decision were the platform’s flexible scalability and its seamless integration of ERP, MCAD, and ECAD applications. Currently, the project focuses on implementing product and document management. In future project phases, the solution will be gradually expanded to support the entire digital product lifecycle. This step-by-step rollout will eventually allow users to manage all project, process, and product data within a single, powerful system. Thanks to the modern, user-friendly interface, up to 600 users will benefit from a highly efficient and intuitive working environment.

CIM Database enables Baumann to react flexibly to dynamic markets and new requirements while expanding the system accordingly. “With CIM Database, we are overcoming the limitations of our legacy system, boosting our innovative strength, and shortening development times,” says Matthias Fellner, Head of IT at Baumann Automation. “This allows us to support our customers even better and faster in addressing new challenges.”

Based in Amberg, Germany, Baumann Automation develops and manufactures automation systems at its approximately 30,000 m² facility, serving international automotive suppliers as well as customers in the electronics and home appliances industries. With 40 years of experience, Baumann has more than 7,300 systems in operation worldwide and employs over 900 people.
