Hanover Fair: CONTACT Elements for digital business models and IoT applications around smart products

From 01 - 05 April CONTACT Software presents the potentials of the open Elements platform for smart products under the motto "Energizing your Digital Business" at the Hanover Fair 2019. Visitors will experience current examples of digital value creation in scenarios for PLM, IoT, Model Based Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.

The Internet of Things (IoT) and the use of smart products are growing rapidly. A current study by CONTACT Software, Fraunhofer IPK and the VDI also points this out. To the extent that digitalization accelerates processes and advances the individualization of products, so do the demands on flexibility and productivity of companies.

In order to meet these requirements, CONTACT Software is focusing this year's trade fair appearance on linking the virtual and real worlds. With the open platform CONTACT Elements and the flexibly combinable, coordinated software modules, companies optimize the added value along the entire product life cycle - from the development of smart products to the improvement based on their operating data to the realization of IoT applications using Artificial Intelligence.

Using the example of Closed Loop Engineering, CONTACT enables visitors to experience the connection between the physical product, its digital twin and the virtual master in PLM. The live demo shows the condition monitoring of a machine that interacts with its digital twin via the Internet. Sensor data provide information about the condition of the machine and its components during operation. The data collected and evaluated in the PLM system can directly initiate maintenance operations or engineering change processes.

CONTACT shows how entire production systems can become smart with an interactive 3D development environment for the virtual commissioning of machines and plants. The central element is a scalable mechatronic modular system consisting of VR, AR, simulation and PLM technologies. Interested parties can interact in a virtual environment with the 3D model of a machine and experience the functional interaction of mechanics, electrics and software. The ability to test and reliably secure manufacturing systems with customers and suppliers at an early stage of development saves time and money.

CONTACT Software can be found in the Digital Factory (hall 6, booth J06) as well as in the Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives (hall 16, OWL joint booth).
