Smart assistance for service cases
Professional maintenance requires a great deal of knowledge about the various systems on the shop floor. But skilled workers are scarce and finding and continuously training new staff is costly. The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK), together with CONTACT, has therefore developed a digital assistance system for mobile devices that offers companies a way out of this dilemma.
The app is directly networked with the digital twin of the production system in the CONTACT Elements for IoT platform. It automatically provides technicians with the necessary contextual information on the respective machine component, guides them step by step through the required MRO process, and updates the technical documentation once their work has been completed. This ensures that the data of the digital twin is always up to date, which means that future maintenance measures can also be reliably planned and carried out.
Fraunhofer IPK uses an example from the industry to illustrate how the new IoT app works. You can also download the photo gallery plus its accompanying texts as a PDF.
