Globally distributed locations must not slow access to up-to-date product data
Development, manufacturing, and service operations now span continents – and product data must be current and complete at every location. Distributed data management ensures that product data is consistently available across globally distributed sites and instances. Intelligent file-level replication mechanisms deliver high performance even across global wide area networks and ensure that all teams can work with up-to-date information at all times. Instead of sending files by email or waiting for large downloads, each site accesses data that is available locally – while still maintaining the same data state everywhere.
Your benefits
- Provide consistent product data across locations
- Maintain high performance even across global wide area networks with intelligent replication
- Scale from a single location to a global system landscape with distributed data management

One consistent data version for all locations
In CONTACT Elements, database content and files are kept separate. This makes it possible to replicate files efficiently and make them available at all sites. All master data is stored centrally in a database and is therefore available at all times. As a result, a change made at a site in Germany is immediately visible at all other sites as well.

Make the most of network resources with intelligent replication
Intercontinental connections over wide area networks (WANs) are slower and less reliable than local networks. Large CAD models make this difference immediately noticeable. CONTACT Elements replication mechanisms therefore distribute data proactively and transfer only what has actually changed. At the remote site, data is read and written locally while synchronization runs in the background. For users, the system feels like a local system rather than a connection spanning half the globe.

Scale with your needs—from a single site to a global landscape
Distributed data management is not a special-purpose project, but an operating model for the same platform. Start with one site and add more as plants or subsidiaries are added. This keeps processes continuous across site boundaries – while operations remain manageable as the landscape grows.
