Python supersedes C as the most popular programming language

Python forms the basis for CONTACT's development environment and software stack alongside C++. Python now tops the renowned IEEE ranking of the world's most popular programming languages.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest association of engineers. Its members deal with issues relating to electronics and information technology and their committee work drives the standardization of methods, hardware and software forward.

Every year, the professional organization publishes a ranking of the top programming languages based on criteria ranging from GitHub repositories to mentions on Twitter. Python, which ranked No. 3 just behind Java in 2016, has come out on top in the latest IEEE ranking.

CONTACT Software makes use of open standards and open-source components to provide businesses with the best technologies and services currently available. One example is the programming language Python, the core component of CONTACT's development environment. As a result, customers benefit from one of the most powerful open environments, which is available directly in the CONTACT Elements platform and allows them to develop, extend and adapt applications.
