MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang GmbH & Co. KG

CIM Database was introduced at MAHA in 2005 as product data management for managing heterogeneous CAD data. Since then, the group of companies has expanded the PDM system into a comprehensive solution for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). CIM Database serves as a central integration platform for all development and production-relevant data, which is not only accessed by mechanical, electrical and software developers, but also by their colleagues in project management, purchasing, production, documentation and controlling.

Solution

Central integration platform for all development- and production-relevant data that is not only accessed by the users in mechanical, electrical and software development, but also by their colleagues in project management, purchasing, production, documentation and controlling; leading system for the administration of material master data and parts lists, which are transferred to the local ERP instances upon release; interfaces to Creo Elements/Direct, SolidWorks, ePLAN P8 (previous year) and Baan/Infor; end-to-end change management; intensive use of project management functions to structure tasks, define objectives and monitor their compliance; cross-location deployment in development and production in Haldenwang and in Alabama, USA.

Benefits

Transparency in the development process; higher product quality due to uniform structures in design and production; shorter project lead times; changes available at the push of a button. CIM Database is considered to be a key technology that is of strategic importance for the competitiveness of the group of companies.

Specifics

Use of CAD data in neutral format for sheet metal and CNC production; bidirectional alignment with the MES software ADICOM.
CIM Database provides much greater transparency in the development process. The information is not hoarded and fewer mistakes are made.
