The easier way from requirements to product

The easier way from requirements to product

Advantages for enterprises and employees

  • Make use of requirements directly within the project and product context
  • Link requirements and present a clear overview of interrelationships
  • Manage requirements from the time they are first recorded up to the time they have been met
  • Monitor the degree of fulfillment and take corrective action

Use requirements directly in the project and product context

Always on target: from requirements specification to product
Requirements form the starting point for product development. CONTACT Requirements & Functions allows you to record and process requirements and monitor the degree to which they are fulfilled. Instead of isolated lists, you use the management capabilities integrated in PLM to handle even large numbers of requirements and the relationships between them. And integration means that you have system support for tracking changes, elaborating and further specifying requirements throughout the development process rather than just managing them in isolation. The result is transparency, traceability, compliance and reliably achieved objectives in your product development operations.

Function-oriented development in accordance with the V model
The module also provides comprehensive support for function-oriented development in accordance with the enhanced V model for model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and offers an excellent foundation for collaboration and system development in development networks.

Link requirements and present a clear overview of interrelationships

Convenient recording and editing with Office and ReqIF interface
Record requirements within the context of the customer projects using automated import from Microsoft Word or ReqIF. You can take over the structure levels directly from these sources and thus speed up the work of structuring the requirements. Microsoft Word is available as a front-end, offering all its formatting and reviewing capabilities. And previews make for even faster orientation. You define requirements in even greater detail on the basis of the status during the course of development, and each of the changed versions is always given a revision number. Comparisons are also possible at any time. For example, when you import requirements from ReqIF, changes are detected automatically and the requirements are updated accordingly in the system.

Faster off the mark with templates
Templates for requirements and functions allow you to assign items simply by dragging and dropping them. Setting up and using requirements catalogs makes it possible for you to define requirements flexibly without risking any loss of traceability.

Manage requirements from initial recording through to fulfillment

Visualize interrelationships with the design structure matrix
A design structure matrix provides you with a simple way of creating links between requirements and functions, components and tasks. This ensures that all the interrelationships are traceable. Make use of preconfigured bidirectional links such as requirements to functions or requirements to project tasks. You can also link requirements to each other.

Navigate through the requirements structures in the link graph
The link graph allows you to visualize the interrelationships between requirements, ideas, functions, actions and parts. You can identify the impact of changes before you implement them. The simple navigation in the link graph means that you always keep a clear overview, even in complex projects for mechatronic or cyber-physical products.

Monitor fulfillment levels and take corrective action

Maintaining/monitoring level of fulfillment
Requirements & Functions allows you to visualize which individual requirements have been met and shows the overall degree of fulfillment. Charts clearly reveal the status and degree of fulfillment of specified requirements.

Take and monitor corrective action
Requirements management that is integrated in PLM makes it possible for you to link requirements directly to project tasks. This means that for any given requirement, you can immediately see the associated tasks, such as validation by tests and simulations. Furthermore, integrated action management makes it possible to initiate corrective action without delay when discrepancies relating to planned specifications are identified.
